MEMBERS OF THE BOARD
Mr. Sola Adeeyo is a tested, trusted and seasoned professional in the finance, banking and business fields. He holds Bachelors of Arts (Political Science), and Masters in (International Relations) Degrees from the University of New York, Albany, USA and Northeastern University, Boston USA respectively. In 1986 he had a remarkable stint at the Nigeria International Bank (now Citi Bank) and later the joined the Investment Banking and Trust Company (IBTC) in 1989 as Director/Group Head Treasury and is credited with formulating and implementing the strategic direction of the bank. He was also part of the founding management team/owner group that built and nurtured the bank to its enviable position in Nigeria’s banking sector, raising it to become a truly commendable continental brand. In 1991, Mr. Adeeyo served as pioneer Managing Director of Asset Investment Limited, a key player and leading investment indigenous organization which he midwifed and propelled to great heights. He was appointed a pioneer member of The Treasury and Foreign Exchange Unit by the Federal Government/Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to help liberalize the nation’s foreign policy. He was also at one time a Director on the board of the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Limited. Mr. Adeeyo, an administrator and consummate businessman; currently functions as Chairman of AXA Mansard Insurance, a leader in the insurance industry; Chairman/CEO of Astral Waters, a potable water production company, and is also a Director and owner of the 65 room 4 star international Protea Hotel Oakwood Park, located on the Lekki/ Epe expressway, Lagos.
Wale has over thirty years’ experience in investing large pools of capital globally. He pioneered the multi-asset class approach to investing institutional capital in Africa. Wale is the former Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee of the $180 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund and a member of the U.S. Eximbank’s Sub-Saharan Africa Committee. Prior to founding Kuramo Capital Management, he was the Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he had oversight responsibilities for over $1 billion in endowment and pension assets. Wale was a Managing Director at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago where he managed $2 billion in public equities and hedge fund assets and also served on the Africa Task Force Committee that guided MacArthur’s Africa program and the establishment of its Nigerian office. In 2014, he was appointed to President Obama’s Advisory Council on Africa.
Richard is co-founder and CEO of Sango Capital, an African focused investment company managing a private equity fund that invests directly into both companies and third party private equity funds. Prior to founding Sango, he was a Principal at Makena Capital Management, a US$15bln private endowment managing assets for sophisticated global institutional clients. He also worked at Bridgewater Associates, one of the largest global Hedge Funds. In his nine years at Bridgewater, he was a member of both the currency research and emerging markets debt research teams, he worked with the Co-Chief Investment Officers to improve upon existing trade ideas, and helped develop new research ideas for inclusion in the firm’s portfolio. Richard, graduated from Swarthmore College and earned an M.B.A. from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University, Cum Laude.
Founder & Director
Faruk spearheaded the development of PIPP LVI Genco, an 8.5MW independent power plant in the Lekki area of Lagos under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Lagos State government. Responsible for assembling the project team of EPC and O&M contractors, technical partners and contractors, his over a decade experience in leading successful infrastructure companies was valuable in the design, construction and negotiating of the Power Purchase Agreement in conjunction with the legal adviser. Prior to founding PIPP LVI Genco, Faruk gained extensive experience as an internal and business systems consultant in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. He worked with several leading multinational companies including Cadbury Schweppes, MTN Nigeria, Nokia, Norwich Union (now Aviva) and British Gas, where he developed interest in gas-fired power generation and distribution. Faruk completed a B.A. in Business from London Metropolitan University and a Post-graduate Diploma in Knowledge Management for Enterprise Development from Cranfield University, UK.
Ayodele is a Founding Partner at Synergy Capital Managers, Fund Manager for the Synergy Private Equity Fund, focused on investments in small to medium-sized companies in high growth sectors in Nigeria and Ghana. A dynamic and pragmatic executive with proven leadership and start-up skills his experience spans over 25 years in corporate and commercial banking, financial advisory and private equity sectors. Prior to Synergy Capital Managers, he worked at FSB International Bank and African Capital Alliance (ACA). He is a trustee of the CFA Society of Nigeria and graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria with a BSc in Finance.
Co-Founder & Director
Habeeb successfully managed the project lifecycle and implementation of both the power plant and the distribution network for PIPP LVI Genco, Viathans first Independent Power Plant. He is also a Partner at Vista Advisory Partners (VAP) a leading corporate finance, sell-side/buy-side advisory and business process outsourcing mandates. Habeeb has driven several debt capital market and club lending transactions and has extensive industry experience in aviation, financial services, heavy industrials, power and ICT sectors. Habeeb graduated from the University of the West of England with a BSc. in Computer Science and M.Sc in Economics from Bristol Business School.
EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Ladi has 20 years’ experience in leading and delivering strategic business initiatives in the Oil and Gas, Management Consulting and Financial Services Industries. Prior to joining the Viathan team, he spent 10 years as a Senior Commercial Adviser with Shell, developing and implementing its Nigerian gas penetration strategy, with focus on the gas-to-power value-chain. As a Senior Consultant with Accenture Consulting, he championed the implementation of strategic oil and gas initiatives for the NNPC. His business analysis and development skills were identified and honed while in the banking industry. Ladi studied Chemical Engineering and has a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from the Aberdeen Business School, UK. He enjoys swimming and cultural tourism.
Chief Finance Officer
Kunle has over 16 year’s vast experience in the energy and financial services. Prior to joining Viathan, he was the Chief Operating Officer and Head, Projects & Strategic Management of Marine Power limited, managers and operators of the Island Power Plant (a Public Private Partnership with the Lagos State Government). He had previous experience in Fidelity Bank Plc where he successfully managed a portfolio with particular interest in the Nigerian Power & Gas Infrastructure. He also worked in several banks including Access Bank, GT Bank and Ecobank Nigeria Ltd. Kunle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Lagos, and a Masters degree in Finance and Management from Loughborough University, U.K. He is a Certified Portfolio Manager with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).
Chief Operating Officer
Trevor is a multi-disciplined Engineer, involved in all facets of engineering from Military to Power generation. He has worked in varying industries ranging from Shipbuilding to Nuclear in Africa, Europe, Middle East and North America. His experience spans over 40years with 38 of those spent in the field for companies such as Lockheed Martin (Aerospace & Defence), General Dynamics, Canada (Defence land systems), M&E Global (military Engineering), Joint European Torus (Nuclear fusion energy), Esso Research (Oil & Marine) and Harland & Wolfe (shipbuilders). His demonstrable track record in the installation, commissioning, operational deployment and maintenance of wide-ranging plant and equipment industry saw to his working within challenging environments. He joined Curtis Construction as Chief Operating Officer in Nigeria in 2016, contributing immensely to the growth of the organisation and eventually took up the same role with Viathan Engineering Limited where his strong technical knowledge and experience is being brought to play. Aside being a focused and purpose driven personality Trevor loves to help the needy, contribute to scientific education/advancement and is deeply concerned about issues that affect the environment.
